Tourism sector sees growth and investment in the first quarter of 2026

Honiara, Solomon Islands – The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) is making significant strides in the tourism sector, with four major hotels and accommodation facilities opening in the first quarter of 2026.

The new facilities include Zaru Hotel in Gizo, Western Province; Double Island Resort and Raiders Hotel in Tulagi, Central Islands Province; and Paringiju Inland Mountain Lodge on Guadalcanal.

These developments are a result of a strong partnership between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and local investors.

“We have stepped up and elevated our support and commitment to this important sector, and we are now seeing real and encouraging results,” said Permanent Secretary Bunyan Sivoro in his quarterly update last week.

The investments have introduced new upmarket and international-standard rooms, making the Solomon Islands more competitive in the global tourism market and improving the visitor experience.

Other Flagship projects, including the Bloody Ridge National Historical Park and the Haus No. 1 Museum in Tulagi, are also progressing.

The destination has been rebranded as “Hapi Isles”, capturing the spirit and warmth of the people and islands.

“The Ministry of Culture and Tourism remains fully committed to developing tourism as a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and national development,” said Mr. Sivoro.
