GNUT Condemns Stoning of Marovo MP’s Residence

Honiara, Solomon Islands (22 March 2026) -The Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) strongly condemns the stoning of the residence of Marovo Constituency MP, Hon. Chachabule Amoi, over the weekend.

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele has called for calm, urging citizens to allow leaders to resolve the current political standoff.

“I call on all citizens, especially Honiara City residents, not to take the law into their own hands and to let the rule of law prevail,” he said.

Minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services, Hon. Jimson Tanagada, says the incident is now a police case and they’re investigating.

He urges anyone with information to contact the police.
