
Government encourages the public to celebrate International Women’s Day
HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The National Government, through the Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs, is encouraging the public to join in celebrations marking this year’s International Women’s Day event.
A major celebratory event will be held in Honiara on the 10th and 11th of March 2026 on two inspiring themes: “Savve lo Raets Blong evri Women En Gels Fo Helpim Kamapum Gut Vois Blong Olketa” and “Aksonim Justice Fo Buildim Wanfala Seif En Ikol Future.”
These themes emphasise the importance of knowing women’s rights, supporting their empowerment, and taking action to create a just and safe future for all.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on March 8th. It is a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women worldwide while urging a renewed commitment to accelerating gender parity.
In Honiara, IWD will be celebrated with events featuring special activities and speeches designed to highlight women’s achievements and promote justice and safety for all.
International Women’s Day is not only a celebration but a collective movement towards ensuring every woman and girl can raise their voice and live safely.
