RSIPF Strengthens Provincial Capability Through RAPPP Support

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Forensics and International Affairs Departments, in partnership with the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), has commenced its 2026 Provincial Engagement Program with a visit to Tulagi, Central Province.

The engagement focused on strengthening forensic and investigation capabilities at the provincial level through targeted training and practical support. Over two sessions, 20 officers from Central Province received training in forensic investigation techniques and transnational crime awareness. The sessions included discussions on emerging threats, such as the use of “narco-subs,” highlighting the evolving nature of criminal activity impacting the region.

A key outcome of the program was the identification of two Central Province officers who will conduct forensic examinations in the future. Practical forensic training was delivered to support their development, and forensic equipment was provided to enhance local examination capacity.

The Tulagi engagement marks the beginning of a broader provincial rollout, with forensic and transnational crime awareness and capability-building sessions to continue in other provinces over the coming months. Through this program, the RSIPF Forensics and International Affairs Departments are strengthening investigative standards and building sustainable forensic capacity across Solomon Islands.
