SUBJECT: DISCLOSURE OF FINANCIAL AFFAIRS FOR YEAR 2026
In accordance with section 8 of the Leadership Code (Further Provisions) Act 1999, it is mandatory that leaders must submit the following forms to disclose your financial affairs:
- Form LC: 1; and
- Form LC: 1A for the spouse and child of the leader who is younger than eighteen.
- A Guideline is provided for proper filling in of Forms.
- Return Cover Letter.
Both the Leader and the spouse must submit separate statements (Form LC: 1 and Form LC: 1A) for themselves if they are both public servants who are L5 or higher. This is due to the fact that the disclosures are specific to individual leaders.
Take notice that the business or firm mentioned by Leaders in the separate statement (Form LC: 1 and Form LC: 1A) does not imply that Leaders have fully disclosed their business interests to the Leadership Code Commission (LCC). Take note that this is simply one of the requirements under the Code for the disclosure of financial affairs, and there is a separate form for it.
For Leaders who are unable to access this notification, HRMs should notify them and print the forms for them to complete and submit to the Commission. Furthermore, leaders working in the provinces must submit a separate declaration for the disclosure of their financial affairs for the year 2026 by June 30th, 2026. Importantly, leaders working in Honiara, Guadalcanal Province, and Central Islands Province must file separate statements for the disclosure of their financial affairs by April 30th, 2026.
Please also take note that failure to submit an accurate statement of assets and financial interests by the due date will result in a $100.00 penalty fine [s8(7)] and may be considered misconduct in office, leading to a warning or reprimand [s24(1)(b)], additional penalty fine [s24(1)(c)], or referral to the High Court for a three-year suspension from public service and the right to contest any any public elections within that three-year suspension period.
Further, note that State Owned Enterprises’ (SOEs) financial declarations to be followed on a date to be confirmed by the Commission.
