RAPPP AND RSIPF HWCE TEAM STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY POLICING ACROSS THREE MAJOR COMMUNITIES IN CENTRAL KWARA’AE AND AOKE LANGALANGA
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and Australian Federal Police (AFP) Partnership Program (RAPPP), through its Health, Welfare and Community Engagement (HWCE) Team, conducted community engagement activities in Kakara Community, Kilusakwalo Village, and Lilisiana within Central Kwara’ae and Auki Langalanga Constituency during the recent festive season.These engagements follow similar visits previously hosted by RAPPP in Central and Western Provinces, aimed at strengthening policing partnerships across the Solomon Islands.
Supervising Assistant Commissioner Provincial Tex Tafoa joined the RAPPP HWCE team during the Auki visits as part of the initiative to enhance engagement with communities across the country.
At Kakara Community, Pastor John Maedola reflected on the positive impact of the engagement:
“This visit was very helpful because it ensured our community received the information we needed. The more often police visit, the more positive change we see in our communities. Thank you RAPPP and RSIPF for visiting us.”
Chaplain Hall provided spiritual guidance to the local communities and RSIPF members, which was a key part of the engagement. Kakara youth representative Andrew Solomon also acknowledged RAPPP’s support:
“Thank you to RAPPP for the sporting gear. It will help our youths stay active and focus on positive development during the festive season.”
In Kilusakwalo Village, Principal of Kilusakwalo Christian Community High School, John Limaito, expressed appreciation for the visit:
“We are grateful for this visit because it gave us the opportunity to talk with the police and also hear from them. This allowed us to give feedback for the betterment of RSIPF and our people. Thank you RSIPF and RAPPP for choosing our community to visit.”
Youth representative Jerry Malefo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement:
“Thank you for visiting us RSIPF and RAPPP. Programs like this should continue in all communities as they strengthen policing work in our country.”
The engagements concluded with a visit to Lilisiana, focusing on strengthening cooperation, promoting community safety, and reinforcing policing efforts.
Malaita Province Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Michael Ramosaea commented on the initiative:
“These engagements are an important part of building trust, improving communication, and working closely with our communities. I thank RAPPP for supporting our work and helping us strengthen community policing across Malaita Province.”
The RSIPF remains committed to maintaining strong partnerships with communities to promote peace, safety, and effective policing throughout the Solomon Islands
