Premier Sagupari welcomes CPLT and RSIPF during a visit to CP
The Honourable (Hon) Premier Kenneth Sagupari of Central Province (CP) warmly welcomed the China Police Liaison Team (CPLT) and the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) delegation during a police cooperation visit to Central Islands Province recently.
In a three-day visit to CP, CPLT, and RSIPF, they provided various police training sessions, conducted community visits, and delivered donations of essential materials.
Hon. Sagupari praised the strong relationship between China and the Solomon Islands. He highlighted that the provincial government firmly supports the “One China” principle and recognized CPLT’s efforts in strengthening local law enforcement and contributing to the region’s stability.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) CP Supercontinent David Soakai expressed his gratitude for the training provided by CPLT, noting how it significantly enhanced the capabilities of local police officers. The ongoing collaboration plays a vital role in improving the effectiveness of law enforcement in the province.
During the criminal investigation training, CPLT focused on practical skills essential for local officers, covering crime scene investigation, evidence handling, and AI-based fraud prevention. The hands-on approach allowed officers to engage directly in activities such as crime scene sketching and fingerprint extraction, which are crucial for their everyday work.
In addition, CPLT, together with RSIPF’s National Crime Prevention Department (NCPD), offered specialized training to 16 Crime Prevention Committee (CPC) representatives from 8 local communities.
The training covered topics like crime prevention strategies, conflict resolution, and patrol-based crime control, equipping community leaders with the tools needed to better manage local security.
The delegation also visited five remote outer-island communities—Horroro, Toga, Haleta, Halavo, and Ha’a—despite the heavy rainfall. They met with local leaders and residents to conduct an awareness-raising program. During the visit they donated essential items such as uniforms, solar lamps, and emergency power supplies to help improve the living conditions of the residents.
Throughout the visit, the delegation was warmly received by the local community, who expressed their appreciation through traditional hospitality, including a feast with roasted pig.
The visit left a lasting impression, with a 105-year-old elder in an outer-island village specially coming out to express gratitude for the support rendered.
As the delegation departed, local residents gathered at the wharf to bid them farewell, symbolizing the strong and enduring friendship between the people of China and the Solomon Islands.
