Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs Enhances Strategic Capabilities following Successful Professional Management Training for Six Officers

The Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs (MJLA) officially announces the successful completion of specialized professional development programs by six of its officers. These individuals undertook rigorous training through the Australian Institute of Management (AIM) in Australia, resulting in the significant strengthening of the Ministry’s leadership, strategic capability, and project management competencies. The programs were delivered across various AIM campuses.
Five officers successfully completed AIM’s Mini MBA programs. These programs utilized a blended delivery model, combining comprehensive online modules with intensive on-campus workshops. Participants navigated six interconnected modules—Leadership, Strategy, Numbers, Customers, Change, and Action – before progressing to stage two, which consisted of an interactive two-day face-to-face workshop.
Four of the graduates completed the Mini MBA in Leadership and Strategy. This specialization is strategically designed to cultivate proactive, authentic leaders who are capable of effectively influencing organizational behaviour amidst an evolving environment. The officers who completed this program are Ms. Kyla Venokana-Sie (DST), Mr. Malcolm Foufaka (FC, MJLA), Mr. Dennis Teinao (CAO – Operations), and Mr. Rex Damola (Principal Accountant). The four officers participated in the Leadership and Strategy workshop in Brisbane from 25– 26 November 2025. They reflected that the on-campus training provided a critical platform to present detailed case studies to executive panels, engage in dynamic group discussions, and apply practical tools and frameworks directly to complex workplace challenges. They reported being equipped with actionable leadership plans, enhanced interpersonal capabilities, and greater confidence in leading teams effectively.
Ms. Margaret Sua, Chief Admin Officer (HR), successfully completed the Mini MBA in People and Culture. Her training concluded in Melbourne, Australia, from 17–18 November 2025. Ms. Sua expressed that the program furnished advanced skills necessary for addressing critical workforce challenges, including strategic workforce planning, preparing comprehensive business cases, and leading organizational transformation initiatives.
In a parallel effort to enhance technical expertise, the Ministry sponsored Mr. Eric Ulufia, Human Resource Manager, to undertake the Mastering Project Management course. This intensive three-day on-campus program was conducted at AIM’s Sydney campus from 17–19 November 2025. The course provides managers with a flexible yet structured methodology for planning, leading, and governing projects with increased effectiveness and confidence.
Commenting on this significant investment in human capital, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. George Hoa’au, stated that he supports the plan to build the capacity of MJLA officers, noting that acquiring advanced skills in areas such as strategic workforce planning, business case preparation, and confident project leadership is essential to strengthening MJLA’s ability to deliver on its mission.
The Ministry sincerely acknowledges the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) and the Australian Government through the Australia Solomon Islands Partnership for Justice (ASIPJ) program for co-funding these essential training opportunities.”.
