WPRO Regional Director visits Health Facilities – National Referral Hospital and Kukum Area Health Centre
The Regional Director for the Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO), Dr Saia Piukala, yesterday visited the National Referral Hospital (NRH) and Kukum Area Health Centre (AHC).
At the visit, he was accompanied by the Health Minister, Dr Paul Popora Bosawai; Permanent Secretary Mrs Pauline McNeil; and some of the MHMS senior executive members and development partner.
These visits were part of the WHO commitment to supporting the Solomon Islands in strengthening health systems and improving health outcomes for all.
The health minister stated, “This brief visit will provide Regional Director Dr Piukala with a glimpse of the Solomon Islands context on the ground. This will give the RD a chance to hear of the many stories as well as challenges on the ground. Hope that this will further enrich your perspective but also explore our collective efforts to resolve and mitigate our challenges.”
Meanwhile, the WPRO Regional Director today visits Good Samaritan Hospital and Naha Birthing Centre and will visit the Mataniko Clinic tomorrow morning.
