Health Minister handed new 60-horse powered engine and ray-boat to Deva RHC

The Health Minister Honourable Dr. Paul Popora Bosawai handed over a 60-horse powered (HP) Outboard Motor (OMB) engine and Ray Boat to the newly Deva Rural Health Clinic (RHC) in Isabel Province on November 12, 2025.

In handing over the new OBM engine and Rayboat, Health Minister Dr. Bosawai congratulated Deva RCH.

He said this is part of the ministry’s ongoing demonstration of its support to healthcare facilities in the remote and hard to reach areas locations.

“Reaching remote and hard to reach locations to deliver health services is a constant logistical challenge of our health workers particularly in the absence of regular transport services, so I am sure that this new rayboat and engine, this go a long way and  will help the Deva rural health clinic by transporting and referral of sick patients to the next level of healthcare, movement of medical supplies, and undertaking community health outreaches and satellite clinics to communities.”, said Health Minister Dr. Bosawai.

Dr. Bosawai encourages the clinic to look after the new ray boat and engine.

Isabel Provincial Health supervising Director, Mr. Martin Gavira thanked the Health Minister, MHMS Executive for seeing the importance of providing the engine and rayboat to the clinic.

Mr. Gavira said to transport patients from Deva clinic to Buala and return costs around $8000.00. Given the high cost of fuel.

“Thank you, Health Minister, for this ray boat and engine. This will save costs and increase the health services of Deva clinic”, said Mr. Gavira.

Prime Minister Honourable Jeremiah Manele also emphasized the importance of the services the rayboat and engine to Deva RCH. He encourages the health workers of Deva RHC and good people of Deva to look after the rayboat and engine.

Meanwhile, health workers, men, women, youth and children of Deva were excited of not only having the newly RHC but having to receive the new engine and rayboat.
