On behalf of the Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, we extend our warmest greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all Solomon Islanders as we celebrate the 47th Anniversary of our National Independence.
This year’s theme, “Unity and Stability for Transformation and Prosperity,” resonates deeply with the journey our nation has undertaken since July 7, 1978. It reminds us that our strength as a nation lies in our unity, our shared values, and our collective determination to build a peaceful and prosperous Solomon Islands.
Over the past 47 years, our country has made significant strides. From the strengthening of democratic governance through free and fair elections, to the expansion of infrastructure, education, and health services across our islands — these milestones are a testament to the commitment of our people and leaders. Our electoral processes have grown stronger and more transparent, empowering citizens to shape the future of our democracy.
We have seen the rise of local leadership, the preservation and promotion of our diverse cultures, and the increasing participation of youth and women in public life. Despite natural disasters, economic challenges, and the global pandemic, the people of Solomon Islands have continued to show resilience, courage, and solidarity. These qualities have not only carried us through tough times but have also inspired a renewed national vision for sustainable development.
As we mark 47 years of independence, let us continue to work together — united in purpose and unwavering in our pursuit of joy, peace progress and prosperity. The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission stands committed to upholding democratic values and ensuring that every voice is heard, as we move forward toward transformational future.
Happy 47th Independence Anniversary, Solomon Islands!
May God continue to bless our Nation and our People from shore to shore
Tagio tumas.
