A fortnight ago Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Women Youth Children & Family Affairs, Dr Cedric Alependava visited Auki, Malaita Province, with CAUSE Project team as being one of CAUSE Project steering Committee members.
The team consist of some of the Project Committee members, Donor funders (World Bank and Australian Aid), Co- Chair of CAUSE Project Steering Committee MID Permanent and HCC Clerk, CAUSE Project Manager, purposely to hand over and launch Six (6) CAUSE projects to the communities of Ward 1 in Auki, Malaita Province.
It is very pleasing and gratifying to see Women, girls and Youths as well as boys and men, are so happy to have such projects because, it made their lives easy, has changed their life styles, improved the standard of living, promote Health and inevitably foster development.
During this CAUSE project hand over and launching PS MWYCFA was able to have a side line dinner meeting on the evening of Wednesday 8th of September 2022 with Premier of Malaita.
Provincial Government. The MWYCFA hosted the dinner and was able to invite Hon Premier Daniel Sudani, Deputy Premier Hon Glen Waneta, Minister for Women Youth Children & Sport Hon Erick Daoni, Provincial Financial controller Mr Joseph Nunua, Malaita Youth Council President Mr Philip Busu, Malaita Women’s desk officer Mrs Freda Kofona, Malaita Youth Desk officer Mr Frank Samo, Deputy Youth officer Mr Timson, and Sport Officer Mr Eddie Omokirio. It was indeed a fruitful dinner and meeting.
During the dinner meeting on 8th of September PS Dr Alependava outlined Ministry’s plan for 2023 development budget is to build Youth and Children’s Centre in Auki town for Malaita, ultimately to empower many Malaita Youth and Children.
This news was very welcoming to the Honourable Premier, he was very pleased indeed and shook PS’s hand, and instantaneously Premier pledged to PS “the land is available for this very important development Project for Youth and Children Center”. He also assured the Ministry to create a position of a need SAFENET officer in Malaita Provincial government establishment next year 2023. The Honourable Premier reiterated that his MARA government is happy to support this kind of initiative because Malaita’s population of Youth and Children is more than 70% and as such, we need to bring this kind of development to Provincial level so that we can be able to reach each constituency and wards to empower them.
Basically, this Youth and Children Centre will be a beacon of hope where our youth and children will see and realize that we do care for them, and undoubtedly the usage of this hub will eventually transform their lives. This is biblical which is pronounced in Luke 2: 52 – that our hope through this centre we will be able to improve our Youth and Children in all facets of life, “spiritually, mentally, socially and physically”.
The team flew back in the late afternoon flight on Thursday 9th September on charter Air Taxi as well as some CAUSE team members came on normal twin otter scheduled flight.
