The dashboard as of this week has more than 15,000 viewers both in-country and overseas.
The Solomon Islands Government through the National Disaster Council has reached out to United Nations Satellite Centre – UNOSAT’s technical backstopping team for a COVID-19 Dashboard to centralise and visualise information. This support is made possible through the CommonSensing Project financed by UK Space Agency’s International Partnership Programme (IPP) through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). IPP CommonSensing Project has been supporting the Government in particular the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in strengthening capacities and increasing awareness in the use of geospatial technology applications for evidence-based decision making. Acknowledging the budgetary support of the Norwegian Government for continued collaboration to enable this service is continued for an additional three years.
COVID-19 dashboard was customized for smart phone users with simple interface and navigational buttons.
The online platform is being populated using data provided by National Health Emergency Operations Centre, Ministry of Health and Medical Services and it is updated on daily basis.
The dashboard allow visitors to view data on the spread of the virus in the capital, Honiara, and provinces as well as COVID-19 cumulative total positive cases, recoveries, critical condition cases and related deaths.
Public and the media are encouraged to visit the dashboard and stay informed, make decisions and protecting each other during the community outbreak currently facing us.
