A total of 34 Correctional Service of Solomon Islands (CSSI) officers have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant, Senior Sergeant, Inspector, Superintendent and Upper Segment yesterday morning 27th July 2022.
CSSI Commissioner Gabriel Manelusi formally announced the promotions of his officers during the Commissioner’s parade at the Correctional Service Headquarters, Rove in Honiara.
Ten Officers were promoted to the rank of Sergeant, seven officers to the rank of Senior Sergeant, five officers to the rank of Inspector, four officers to the rank of Superintendent and eight officers received their Upper Segment.
Commissioner Manelusi mentioned that the promotion surely means that the organisation not only recognizes their achievements, but also their continuing dedication, hard work and commitment to serve the country and the people of Solomon Islands. He insisted that they must lead by example and be a God-fearing person.
“As your Commissioner, I would like to say that the success of Correctional Services depends on qualities enhancing strong and sound leadership you provide”, said Manelusi.
He reiterated that strong leaders drive the performance and effectiveness of others. They also help to create an environment where every senior and subordinate officers can and should perform to their potential responsibilities, within the organisation mission, vision, goals and values.
“As you move up the hierarchy or taking up responsibilities, may you not forget to look back and guide your subordinate and colleague officers to encourage them to continue outshining in their responsible units”.
He also reminded the promoted officers to perform their roles diligently, with loyalty and hard work to the best of their ability. Consequently, the work at every level of the organisation is important, as far as mandated duties and responsibilities are concerned.
Newly promoted Superintendent Needy Topue on behalf of the promoted officers acknowledged the Office of the Commissioner for their leadership in driving the agency forward. It was through supporting the human resources development strategy with the emphasis on the individual performances, recognitions and rewards.
“Thank you for the ongoing support, encouragement, advise, contributions and also believing in us that we are ready to take on the new role and more responsibility mandated to us”, says Topue.
