The National Crime Prevention Department of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) through Honiara community policing team met with leaders of various Crime Prevention Committees (CPC’s) in Honiara on 26 August 2021.
Director National Crime Prevention Department, Inspector Steve Sunaone said the purpose of the meeting is to inform leaders representing respective CPC’s in and around Honiara City about their responsibilities during the lockdown period.
Director Sunaone said the CPC’s in and around Honiara must make sure members of the Communities adhere to the orders announced under the State of Public Emergency by managing and preparing in advance before the lockdown or a curfew in Honiara City starting on 29 to 31 August 2021.
Mr. Sunaone said police carry out its duty supporting the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to ensure the orders are adhered to. Police will not tolerate anyone breaching the orders under the State of Public Emergency.
He said the lock down simulation is vital to maintain operational alertness and prepares the response capabilities of our frontline agencies as we continue to manage COVID-19 should there be any community transmission.
During the meeting, leaders representing each CPC thanked the National Crime Prevention Department for organising the meeting and expressed their assurance to work with the police and other authorities during the lockdown.
“Please call the police on phone 23666 or free toll 999. You can seek help from the police or emergency patrols. Let us work together with the government through the Ministry of Health to fight against COVID-19,” says Director Sunaone.
