Health and Medical Services Minister Dr. Culwick Togamana has called on people to cooperate with health authorities in the battle against covid-19 which continues to claim lives and causing hardship to families.
As community transmission spreads all over the country at an alarming rate, the Minister warned of more challenges ahead in terms of medical services to save lives.
He said the only way to slow the spread and to save precious lives is to obey public health safety measures that authorities continue to promote.
The current rate of transmission has already overwhelmed the country’s health system in responding to the pandemic while at the same time putting more pressure on the overall economy.
‘We must fight this disease together by obeying what authorities have put in place for us if we care about ourselves, our families and the vulnerable members of our communities who are at risk of losing their lives to covid-19,” Minister Togamana said on Thursday.
The Government remains committed to serve the country and people through efforts by our doctors and nurses at the emergency departments to those serving in isolation facilities including officers rolling out mass testing and vaccination and other support services.
“All we need is your support and cooperation,” Minister Togamana said.
Minister Togamana conveyed the Government’s appreciation to all stakeholders including donor agencies, NGOs, SOEs, the Private sector and Chiefs and Church leaders for their ongoing support during this difficult times.
