The Government is fully intact and nothing will move it.
Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare assured the nation during a special national address this afternoon.
The government must and will never bow down to the evil intention of a few people. It will stand up to intimidation, bullying and violence.
The government owe this to our children and the majority of our people who cannot defend themselves, said Prime Minister Sogavare.
“There are certain things that is worth dying for. Defending democracy, rule of law and protecting the weak and vulnerable is one of these things,” he emphasized.
The government stands in solidarity for the principles of democracy despite the threats and intimidation they have been receiving.
It further emphasized, the government will not allow elements of disunity, chaos and anarchy driven by the narrow political agendas of a very few individuals to overrun it.
Solomon Islands is a democratic country and the government will stand by the principles of democracy and the rule of law.
Prime Minister Sogavare also thank the Governments and people of Australia and Papua New Guinea for responding to our request for assistance.
He adds, the Prime Minister of Fiji has also reached out and will continue to dialogue to bring current situations under control.
